Old Books

Old books are beautiful. The covers had so much character, from the bindings to the illustrations. It seems that back then, people cared about what books looked like. They took the time to make a book pretty. I'd love to have a huge library with a ton of old books, just so I could run my fingers over them and read them. Ah, the magic of books...

Woolworth's

I was flipping through Martha Stewart's magazine the other day and saw the article on the National Christmas Museum in Paradise, Pennsylvania. It's a 20,000 square-foot building dedicated to nothing but Christmas. Inside this building is a replica of an F.W. Woolworth store, created by Jim Morrison. Morrison remembers buying three toy houses at Woolworth's for a quarter in December of 1947. He also recalls the red storefront and just how magical it all was. It took Morrison a decade to hunt down vintage holiday merchandise in its original packaging. In order to provide a glimpse into the era, Morrison filled genuine early 20th- century Woolworth display cases with candies in jingle bells, old-fashioned outdoor string lights, and dozens of toy houses.
