This picture is from our local newspaper, the Statesman Journal. The man washing the windows is a local resident of Keizer (Berl Davis), here in Oregon. This was taken at Master Service Station in Salem. Back then, if you took your car there, you had someone inspecting under the hood, washing windows, checking air in the tires, and someone sweeping the inside of your car. All while you fill up your car with gas. Davis told the Statesman Journal that "you wouldn't believe how dirty a white shirt can get at a gas station". In those days, people were happy to help you, and at the end of it, chances are you'd get a smile too.
