Mütter Museum

Since it's October (and almost Halloween!), I thought I'd do a post on the Mütter Museum in Pennsylvania. It was established in 1858, and Dr. Thomas Dent Mütter intended for the museum to be used as research and education. If you pay to take the tour, you will see, for example, what the museum is best known for: the Hyrtl skull collection, which contains more than 130 skulls, once collected by Austrian anatomist Joseph Hyrtl. You will also see the tallest skeleton currently on display in North America, the Soap Lady, a nine-foot-long human colon with more than 40 pounds of fecal matter, or the liver from the famous Siamese twins Chang and Eng. General admission to get in to the museum is $14, and I think this would be a perfect spot to visit for Halloween.
