Kit-Cat

The Kit-Cat clock was first made in 1932, during the Depression, in Oregon by Earl Arnault. The Allied Clock Company was founded in Portland. The clocks were first welded with metal, but eventually, plastic was used in its place. The company then moved to Washington.

In the 40s and 50s, the clocks saw a huge growth in popularity. There were also some changes made to them: paws and a bow tie. Kit-Cat became an icon. Today, there are colorful Kit-Cat clocks, and even ones with pearls and eye lashes.

This year marks Kit-Cat's 80th anniversary... fifty years making the clocks in California and thirty years with Woody Young as president. Kit-Cat clocks are now sold in stores around the world.
